Ting and Song Fei where excited to say the least.

They had never even heard of a fellow race of Avians, much less met them. Imagine their peoples surprise to find they not only where upon the continent, but where just a few days flight.

Following the newly established procedure, they landed well outside the city, where even at a distance they saw the familiar silhouette of figures flying against the horizon.

For once Ting even let herself get caught up in Songs excitement. What would they look like? How do they think? Would they be friendly?

Soon they found themselves nearing the city.

They would have their answers soon enough

Foreign diplomats were becoming more and more common by the month, it seemed. In just a few short years, contact with multiple nations, in addition to being embroiled in political disputes, had suddenly been thrust onto the nation of traditional isolationists. Most folk were rather content to be farmers or fishermen in the lake basin. But the increasingly global position the nation was put in forced the peoples' hand, whether they liked it or not.

The Avians were greeted by one of the mobile scout parties which scouted the surrounding countryside by the air, and were quickly brought to a nearby scout outpost and given rest.
The outposts were almost always just a single, well fortified rest house with a permanent garrison of maybe 20 men, but were frequently stayed in by members of the nobility. As such, there was a Tlatoani who just so happened to be in the area, and was able to meet the other Avians. He had dull-blue feathers, and frequently was compared in stature and look to the King himself, which flattered him greatly.

"Greetings, fellow skyfolk. What brings you to our nation, and from where do you hail?"

Ling Fei bowed a curled talon in an open one.

"Our earnest thanks" she replied.

She has learned a bit from her interactions with the elves and humans over the course of their interactions.

"We are the Kaizen, from the heart of the mountains to the Southwest of here," she gestures to where she knows the general direction of her peoples territory.

"We have come seeking peace, trade, and possibly defense."

After much discussing it was decided that directness suited their people best as, unless you are trying to teach, it made little sense to dance around an answer you possess in lue of simply giving it.
